I won’t be explaining it in the comic proper, so I’ll just quickly note it here. The discrepancy between what happened to Pluto when its antennae was damaged and what happened to Mercury is due to Pluto being built much later on. Mercury (and Venus, and another you haven’t met quite yet) is lead entirely by the computer, whereas Pluto (and others) has a built-in AI that’s just ordered by the computer.
